NayanTara Gurung Kakshapati graduated from Mt Holyoke College, Massachusetts with a BA in International Relations and a minor in Studio Art. She went on to the SALT Institute of Documentary Studies, Portland, ME to earn a certificate in Documentary Photography. NayanTara came back home to Nepal in 2006 and has since been working at Y! magazine and as a freelance photographer.

NayanTara is eager to cover in-depth and issue- driven stories. Intimate stories that go beyond making headlines is important to her.
